Great Tips for Cheap Cruise Deals

by nav on July 27, 2010

The recession has affected the whole world and severely in the United States. On top of that the place that has been affected by it the most is Florida which also happens to be the number 1 place for cruise passengers.  Top this off also with the fact that  those in the Northern parts of the country don’t decide to head down south for a cruise unless the areas in which they live in are reaching freezing temperatures.

So where can you the consumer find cruise bargains and cruise discounts? Best bet is the Caribbean ideally western Caribbean.  Mexico has the whole swine flu problem so most people find that section very unappealing no matter how great of a discount cruise package is available for a Mexican cruise.

From May through September Alaskan cruises are quite popular but due to airfare and pricey shore excursions you might find that you’re not getting a great cruise deal at all.

But due to the American Dollar rising in value again a nice meditarean cruise or European cruise might fare well.  Up until recently the euro had dominated the currency but now you’re able to get more value for you American dollar.

Tips for getting a bargain great deal on cruise packages:

* The closer you book to the departure date the cheaper you are able to get your tickets for.  It’s better for the cruise vessel to have something occupied for whatever they can get away with then just leave it empty.

* Sign up for mailing list for big cruise agencies and when they send you an offer for a great cruise deal take it and run with it

* Big cruise companies launch a new ship every year so when all the hype is going on about their new ship make reservations for the older cruise vessel and enjoy the savings

* Do some research and know what a bargain is and what’s not.  For example upgrading your cabin will never make the deal to your advantage and rarely are cruise airfare trips to your benefit.  See for yourself how much a separate plan ticket would be and book it separately.

*Find yourself a terrific travel agent.  It is the agents that know a bargain before it is available to the public.  Also they’ll be better at steering you into the right cruise packages that will fit your travel needs.  If you want to find a good travel agent ask around for referrals

So put the information to use and book your next discount cruise line. Cheaper isnt always better when it comes to a discounted vacation but know how to get the same cruise package but for the price of a cheap cruise package is well worth it.
